Excellent For Immediate Surroundings

Pros Lightweight, easy setup, great job on fumes and mold
Cons no significant cons
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I highly recommend the Roomaid for someone who wants a portable air cleaner to deal with air problems in immediate surroundings.
I purchased a Roomaid air cleaner three years ago. It is an item that truly has improved my quality of life.

I have asthma which is aggravated by molds and chemical fumes. It got so bad that I'd often have to change rooms in hotels due to smells from new carpeting, cleaning solutions, and air fresheners. Even when I found a "good" room I'd have mild irritation. Now I bring the Roomaid whenever I go to a hotel. I set it up right next to my bed, and it works great. I know it is working because I sometimes wake up feeling fine and then start moving around the room and have problems.

I bought the car adapter. I have used it in the car when driving through smoky areas, and it has been helpful.

My husband and I once received a card game. The printing fumes bothered me. So until the cards finished offgassing, whenever we'd play, I'd set up the Roomaid by my spot at the table. My problem was solved.

At another time we had a mold problem in my office, and I'd have lung irritation when working at my desk. I set up the Roomaid on the desk and could work and breathe with no problem.

Though I don't find that it cleans the air in an entire small room, it does the job very well in its immediate surroundings. As you can tell from my anecdotes this has enabled me to do many activities comfortably that I would probably have had to forgo otherwise.

The Roomaid is lightweight and very easy to carry and set up. It came in some styrofoam packaging which I have kept for travel.

I do not find the noise it makes annoying, as I have with some other air cleaners. It is a "white noise" kind of noise. On low I'd call it quiet, on high I'd call it medium loud.

All of this excellent fume filtration is with the carbon blankets that come with the unit. At one point I bought the extra VOC cannister thinking that might make it even better (though it really is sufficient as is, so I can't quite remember why I did that). Drawing air through the cannister slowed the flow down so much that the air was hardly moving out, even on high. That made it useless. I returned the cannister. For my needs I see no reason to buy that cannister. If someone had a positive experience with it I hope you'll post a comment.
