Best router used to-date.

byelleche Jan 15, 2008

Pros Continuous connectivity, easy setup
Cons None so far.
Recommended it? Yes

I was in the market for a new wireless router when my Netgear router had died (likely from overheating). I wanted something that would be more durable and easy to use. I had set up wireless networks previously and found the instructions very straight-forward. In the couple of months I have had the... Read full review »

Better than Linksys

Pros Good range, stable, pleasing design, DD-WRT compatibility, low cost.
Cons none
Recommended it? Yes

The Linksys WRT54G might be the popular standard in home routers, but the Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 turns out to be a better alternative.

I've been a longtime fan of the Linksys WRT54G--not because it was great out of the box, but because it could be flashed with the free dd-wrt firmware. You... Read full review »

Pros Speed and signal strength.
Cons Set up took a while.

I had a Netgear WGR614. It died while upgrading the firmware. Netgear replaced it under warranty, but I was always having to reset it to repair my connection. I read up on routers and came across two Buffalo Technology routers in my price range. Since they were only $20 apart, I splurged and got... Read full review »

THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!!

Pros To many to list.
Cons Having to wait for the router to reboot after changing a setting.
Recommended it? Yes

I have used Netgear, Linksys, and D-Link in the past few years. I read a few reviews about Buffalo that were great so I had to try it. I have about 3 1/2 acres over which I use both a laptop and UTStarcom WI-FI Voip phone. None of the routers came close to covering all of my property much less the... Read full review »

The New King of Wireless Routers

Pros Performance, Price, Aesthetics, Standard Features, DD-WRT compatibility, Two Year Warranty
Cons Reboot time with Buffalo firmware seems longer than most.

5/6/10 Update
And it is still running great.  Going on four years, now. Still using DD-WRT firmware.  Apparently, Buffalo is going to start selling some of their routers with DD-WRT already installed.  The WHR-HP-G54 truly became another Linksys WRT54G, and did it even better... Read full review »

Connection is spotty at times but does the job

bythebuffone51 Feb 25, 2010
Helpful? 1 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Easy To Use
Cons Connection at times
Recommended it? No

This has an easy setup and pretty decent range, I guess. It seems that going downstairs has a problem at times (every few weeks) connecting but otherwise I have had it for about 2 years.
I would look for something better especially with the Wireless-N out now...just make sure you have... Read full review »
