The Bottom Line:
This camera has excellent picture quality and a vast amount of features. It's sells for a very reasonable price when you take into consideration the features it offers.
This may appear to look like your basic compact digital camera, but it puts out far beyond basic features and options. This is a very high quality and high end camera. It's ease of use is a huge plus. And the Whopping 5MP will bring you clear, sharp, and vivid images with every click. This camera has a sturdy metal casing. It also has a very nice sliding case to protect and house your lens. You have a 3x optical zoom lens which pops out upon opening the sliding the case. There is a great 1.5 size LCD Monitor. The jog wheel, located at the top of this camera is full of options, ranging from Fast Shutter, to Night Scenes. All the function buttons are easily It is easily accessible and packed full of every feature you could ever want to use, and many only the serious amateurs of pros would tap into to.
The Battery is a standard Li-ion rechargeable battery pack and my particular camera came with a Standard 32MB Compact Flash Card.. The 3x optical zoom offers 38 - 105mm equivalent for a 35mm camera and this added to the 4x digital zoom. So you have a 12x total zoom. F range is F2.8 - F4.9, and focusing is managed via a whole host of options: 9-point AiAF 1-point AF (any position), AF lock, Focus bracketing, AF assist beam (on/off) and Manual Focus.
On to the Picture Quality.....This is very strong, detailed and well balanced. The combination of being a Canon and having the 5MP brings you vivid, crisp and well defined images. The colors are bright, sharp, and the whites are so defined and skin tones look natural and clear. The host of focusing options only help in creating better pictures. While the pre-programmed settings get you out of trouble if you're not sure what to manually set up. The picture quality is very good and the functions that the camera offers are extensive. For this too really be treated as a high end camera it should have a hot shoe function. If you are looking for a good solid camera and are at that stage where you want all the functionality of a high camera without the size, then this is the camera for you.
