Pros Great family communications any where!
Cons A little pricey, but worth every penny.
Recommended it? Yes

Recently my mother-in-law purchased two sets (4) of the Cobra MicroTALK 2-way radios for my family (my husband, me, my pre-teen son and daughter). She got the idea from my brother who has them for his family.

We use them when we go to shopping to keep in communications if everyone would... Read full review »

Pros Fold down antenna, call feature, clear display
Cons Batteries can be a challenge to change
Recommended it? Yes

I have owned the a pair of the Microtalk 2 radios for nearly 2 years. I have used them for cross country skiing, hunting, shopping, driving in the car, and hiking. The range varies based on the terrain and the interference, but I have gotten up to the 2 mile advertised range on many occasions.

Excellent Two Way Radios

bytacobellgrande Aug 7, 2000
6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Long battery time, lots of features
Cons Looks pretty cheap; talk button occasionally hard to press
Recommended it? Yes

I've owned a pair of Cobra MicroTalk2 radios for about six months now, and I can't think of a single complaint against them, except that they look like toys. But this is just the opposite of the truth. The MicroTalk2 supports 14 channels, with 38 subchannels per channel (which as I understand it,... Read full review »

Pros Compact, lots of good features
Cons AAA batteries are more expensive

I bought a pair of microTalk2's recently. Here are lists of things that I like as well as things that I don't like.

I like:
1. Compact in size (comparing with other popular brands).
2. Fold-away antenna makes it more convenient to carry.
3. Power saver circuit makes batteries... Read full review »

Legendary Cobra reliability absent

bylivewire_ Dec 1, 2000
4 Helpfuls 5 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Good signal quality, easy to use.
Cons Lacks durability
Recommended it? No

I have tried FRS radios from Cobra, Motorola and Panasonic. Cobra was the weakest of the pack.

The best example I can think of is that I have sold models from all three manufacturers to a construction company. Cobra was the hands-down loser; it just didn't stand up to the abuse... Read full review »

Great Radio!!!

3 Helpfuls 4 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Folding antenna, Size, Features, AND Belt Clip.
Cons Really goes through batteries
Recommended it? Yes

I recently bought a pair for $60.00, and I think they were worth every penny. I have tried Radio Shack and two models of Cobra radios besides this one. I don't like the newer models a lot because of the lack of a belt clip. It makes them hard to carry. My first model was a Cobra Microtalk 1, it has... Read full review »

Two-way radio review

bykitzco Jan 25, 2000
Helpful? 1 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Sturdy radio frame
Cons Weak frequency
Recommended it? Yes

The two-way radio purchased was a middle-of-the-pack radio and used for hiking and hunting. If purchasing this brand I suggest getting a top of the line radio instead of a cheaper one. The four products we bought had only two channels to choose from, and both seemed to be frequently used by others... Read full review »
