Great for the average person who wants a computer.

Pros Simple set up, simple use, nice price
Cons none
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Great basic computer, no frills and easy to use.
I purchased two of these computers in October, 2004. My computer broke and my husbands was on it's way out too, so it was time for new computers. Although my husband wanted the fanciest computers on the Dell.com website, our finances simply didn't allow it. And so, because we didn't have much of a choice, we picked the Dell Dimension 2400.

This one was the cheapest computer we could find from Dell, priced at $399. It came with all the necessary parts (keyboard, monitor, mouse) and has a CD drive and a CD burner. It came with Windows XP Home Edition, as well as a bunch of different software. Some of the discs it came with are Microsoft Money 2004, Sonic RecordNow 7.1 LE, WordPerfect, and a 6 month trial to AOL. The only thing that it didn't come with that would have been nice was speakers. (I had speakers already but my husband had to go out and buy some.)

I ordered the computers through the website. Getting approval for financing only took a few minutes. We got the computers fairly quickly too. We were told there was a delay and it would take a few weeks, so we were pleasantly surprised when we got the computers a week earlier than we thought we would.

The computer was SO easy to set up! It came with a diagram showing how to hook everything up, and all of the plugs are color-coded so you can find the right spot on the back of the computer to plug it in to. Then, once you turn the computer on, it starts playing some pleasant music while it helps you through the set-up process. It tells you exactly what to do, and it was very simple. I would say I had the computer put together and online in about a half-hour.

The computer is so much nicer than my last one. (My previous computer was a Dell, well the actual computer part was anyway, the monitor and keyboard and other parts were all from different places.) No more "blue screen of death." No more computer freezing up on me. In fact, the only real problem I have had is that the Dell Jukebox program decided to not work, and I have no idea how to fix it. However, I use a different program to listen to music so it is not that big of a deal.

Even my husband, a computer junkie, likes his Dell Dimension 2400. He can still play all of his computer games on it without a problem. Although, I bet he still dreams of a fancy computer.

This computer is great for someone who just uses their computer to go online, listen to music, and play regular games (ones that don't need fancy equipment to play). It is a great value for the price. And even though I am not that great with computers, I was able to set this one up and use it all by myself. My husband just laughed when he came home and my computer was all set up while his was just sitting in its box.

I recommend this computer for the average person- it is easy to set up, inexpensive, and easy to use.
