hooking up to databases is easy
Cons
price; setting up
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I would certainly be happy to work with it.
I recently had the chance to 'play' with this application. I found it great fun and must admit the result were impressive . Using databases in websites is a breeze- once you've mastered the basics. You can master the basics via the Tutorials, but this is not a quick process- although looking similar to HTML the Coldfusion language has its own foibles.
My biggest bugbear was installing and setting up the damn thing- I found the documentation about this fragmented and there is masses of it. Knowing nothing about networks and its jargon did not help me, and perhaps this would not be a problem for the kind of customer who can afford to buy it (with system techies on hand)!
As for recommending it- well once it was going and I learned the code, I was very productive. But perhaps this can be said about any4/5 generation language? I wonder how it compares to 'new' products like Omnis Studio Web Client?
