A few weeks ago my dad asked me what I would like for my birthday. Well this was a tough subject but than it came to me. I wanted to be able to get the internet in any room I chose with out having to worry about wires everywhere.

Pros Cheap Easy Reasonable first level support
Cons Compatibility--doesn't work! Bad advanced support
Recommended it? No

I bought the Netgear MR314 on the recommendation of my company?s IT manager, who uses it at home with a cable modem through Time Warner. We use ORiNOCO (Agere) network cards and Lucent (Agere) access points at the office, which work great.

I connected my Netgear through the modem Verizon... Read full review »

After hoping to establish a home network for quite sometime, I had finally decided to explore either the lower-cost home phone line option or wireless when the CompUSA salesman recommended that we try wireless instead. Yet, the store only stocked the ubiquitous Linksys router, which the salesman on... Read full review »

Tried linksys and siemens and neither worked "out of the box" Needed a router that would setup on a win 2000 machine and cable modem, and link a desktop and laptop, upstairs, both running win xp. Also needed to be able to access the net while my wife used vpn to access corporate network. This was a... Read full review »

Pros Easy to use, plug and play, virtually idiot proof
Cons Short antenna, (not even really a con that much)
Recommended it? Yes

The netgear MR314 is a great router from netgear. It combines wireless functionality along with great router support. It is a 4 port router, with 802.11b wireless capability. I purchased this product in need for an access point for my laptop that has a netgear PCMCIA wireless card in it, the... Read full review »

Netgear MR314

Pros easy to setup
Cons Very weak security. Unknowledgeable customer support.
Recommended it? No

I agree with many of the other customer?s comments for this wireless router: it is fairly simple to setup, and it does work as advertised. However, I feel many of the customers have failed to consider one key feature that the MR314 lacks: SECURITY. This brand offers very little in regards to... Read full review »

The Route to Somewhat Painless Networking

Pros inexpensive, relatively easy setup
Cons none so far

We recently stepped up to cable modem internet access. So that all the computer in the house could share the cable modem we decided to network the computers. I am relatively computer savvy, but I know nothing about networking. I hunted around on the web doing my usual research routine. Netgear... Read full review »

Excellent product, this is the way to go for broadband sharing.

Pros Excellent quality unit, very solid casing, incredibly easy to set up with amazing range.
Cons I'd rather have a paper manual, but documentation in general is adequate.
Recommended it? Yes

Honestly, I was skeptical about wireless residential routers. As a network administrator, I'm quite accustomed to spending long hours configuring network gear and was caught quite off-guard by the easy set up of this unit. Of course, before I purchased this unit and an 802.11b NIC for my laptop, I... Read full review »

Pros Inexpensive,easy to hook up.
Cons Bulky unit.

I got away from the dial up modem, and went for a cable modem. What a difference. Well of course I wanted my other desktop in the house to use it as well, and also my laptop. I kept looking for a few months at wireless networking. I thought to myself, do I really want to spend that kind of money on... Read full review »
