The New Olympus Camedia C3020 Much More Than a Facelift

byHoward_Creech Feb 24, 2002

Pros Outstanding white balance, contrast adjustment, and noise reduction options, reasonable...
Cons Average macro mode and slow start-up
Recommended it? Yes

For the past three months I have been receiving regular email requests for information about the new Olympus Camedia C3020. The C3020 is the updated version of the very popular Olympus Camedia C3000 digital camera. I have been heartily recommending the C3000 (since I tested it in June of 2001)... Read full review »

The Olympus C-3020 is One of the BEST Digital Cameras for the $!

bysurferdude7 Jan 30, 2002
85 Helpfuls 86 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Excellent photos! Plus an easy to use camera!
Cons SmartMedia card is not large enough!
Recommended it? Yes

The Olympus C-3020 Zoom is the same camera as their Olympus Camedia C-3000 Zoom Digital Camera with some added features. This is the camera that I was told would replace the C-3000. The C-3000 is an excellent camera, I know I own one and love it, so the C3020 will be a plus since both are the same... Read full review »

Towering Olympus, in the Greek Mythological Sense

Pros Great photo quality, feature - full, upgradeable, ergonomic, intuitive, night, movie, and...
Cons Terrible battery life, no sound on movies, bulky
Recommended it? Yes

The official camera of the official team photographers for the Milwaukee Brewers . . . maybe. Officially.

So there I was, sitting anxiously in my bedroom this past June; my departure rising ominously over the horizon of time, and I as unprepared as the proverbial dinner table sans... Read full review »

Loving my C-3020

byjohnlemay Mar 7, 2002
15 Helpfuls 16 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Easy to use, "drag and drop" pics to PC
Cons Pricier than other options
Recommended it? Yes

You can specs for the C-3020 anywhere, so I won't bother listing them here. I picked up this camera at my local camera shop. While it was one of the priciest models they had at $499, the pic quality and options are great, and the 16M memory card they give you is twice as good as most others (that... Read full review »

Pros 3.3mp, Lots of options, Olympus brand, Nice appearance
Cons No sound with movies, only 16mb card, No remote, No video output
Recommended it? Yes

Hello again,

I recently wrote an article on the C-3000zoom camera which you could say is a cousin to the C-3020. I have owned the camera for over 2 years and it is a good quality camera. I do not own the C-3020 but it is basically the same camera functionally and cosmetically with a few... Read full review »

Very good camera and the price is falling

byhonda1971 Dec 28, 2002
11 Helpfuls 12 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Almost all the features of a SLR in a fairly small package
Cons Somewhat slow auto-focusing and recharge times
Recommended it? Yes

I won't bore you all with the manufacturer's specifications of the camera since you can get this from previous reviews or online from Olympus. I'll just give you the facts (as I see it of course).

The price of the camera has fallen over $100 in the past six months and it's mostly because... Read full review »

Easy to USE for the casual photographer

byrebacow Dec 13, 2004

Pros Simple to use, has complex features, nice strap.
Cons Doesn't record sound in movie mode, cheap lens cap.
Recommended it? Yes

I'd say I've owned this for about 2 years and I take photos here and there with the point and shoot option.

This camera is pretty easy to use if you just want to point and shoot. It's also pretty powerful, offering 3.2 megapixels, and it's got a lot of options. The problem is that I have... Read full review »

Great digital camera

bymimoid Sep 24, 2002
9 Helpfuls 10 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Great quality photos, easy to use
Cons Slightly clumsy
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased the Olympus C-3020 Zoom as a replacement for my Olympus C-200 Zoom (that's D-510 for all you non-European guys) because of the severe quality problems I experienced with it (see my review).

It is quite obvious that the C-3020 plays in a completely different league and is a... Read full review »

Olympus Camedia C3020 3.2 Megapixel

byronk9fmr Mar 25, 2003
8 Helpfuls 9 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Great image quality & ease of use. Compact with many features.
Cons View finder does not "frame" same size as CCD display.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this camera mainly for business use but have used it more for portraits and landscape. I shoot everything at maximum resolution, so have purchased 128 MB SmartMedia cards which allow 70 images per card. The battery life rating is a bit misleading, because the smaller the resolution, the... Read full review »

Cons Lens cap isn't so stable. Try not to drop it!!

I received this camera as a gift for my last birthday from my boyfriend. After many problems with the store we were ordering from (which is a whole other story, completely unrelated to this camera), I finally had my gift.

Whoa! I've never had a digital camera before, but being a... Read full review »

Olympus Camedia C-3020 3MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom

The Olympus C-3020 is designed to be the most affordable 3-megapixel model in Olympus's C series of digital cameras. Its key features include a 3.3-megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom lens, and SmartMedia storage. As its model number implies, the C-3020's list of features fits between those of the discontinued C-3000 and the current C-3040. Compared to the C-3000, the 3020 adds USB direct connect--no driver software is required to transfer photos to most computers. In addition, a new noise reduction system improves image quality in low-light situations. Stepping up to the C-3040 gets you a faster, brighter lens, a larger internal memory buffer for faster shot-to-shot performance, movie mode with sound (the C-3020 records silent movies), external flash connector, remote control, and long-life disposable lithium batteries. Like all models in the C-3000 series, the C-3020 is a powerful performer, featuring aperture priority, shutter priority, and full manual modes, plus movie mode and uncompressed TIFF shooting. The C-3020 comes with a USB cable, carrying strap, lens cap, and retainer cord, four AA alkaline batteries, a 16 MB SmartMedia card, and a manual.
