Not sure why anyone liked this camera
Pros
Was reasonably priced for features at the time.
Cons
Awful shutter lag, poor image quality, poor battery life, expensive proprietary storage.

No
The Bottom Line:
This four-year-old camera is well past its prime, so you're probably not going to pay more than second-hand prices for it, but even then, I wouldn't recommend it.
This was my first digital camera purchase some years back, and I doubt I'll buy a Sony still camera again as a result, which surprises me: I like Sony.
I chose it partly because it seemed like a good price for a 5MP camera at the time (at Best Buy) and because I had nothing but great experiences with Sony professional video equipment and home TVs.
Unfortunately, I have not been really satisfied with a single photo taken with this camera, mainly because what I photographed was the scene a couple of seconds *after* I intended -- the shutter lag on this thing is awful. Forget about action shots: this camera is for still-life only. And that only if you're willing to put up with soft-focus, noisy pictures.
One feature of this camera reminds me of my pro video days: battery maintenance. We put a lot of discipline into battery maintenance before sending someone out on a shoot. You'll need to do the same with this camera, which seems entirely inappropriate for a grab-n-shoot camera.
I know it's been said by others, but even when this camera came out, the market had spoken and Sony's expensive and proprietary memory stick format had lost out to SD (Secure Digital) cards. The paltry 16mb that came with the camera will hold about 10 pictures.
