BUY THIS IF YOU WANT PROFESSIONAL QUALITY
I have been a cable TV producer for three years. During that time I have used a hand held cam corder as well as the more professional model cam corders that use full size S tape. Nothing comes close to the quality of Digital.
The S VHS tape produces a highly quality resolution good even...

Sony DCR-VX2000 -- The Mother of all Camcorders
Sony brought the DCR-VX1000 camcorder to the market in 1995. A workhorse, this MiniDV camera dominated the three-chip* camcorder field. Sturdy and grey, sporting a utilitarian look, the VX1000 provided high-quality video image capture for everybody from wedding videographers to cable-access... Read full review »
Sony's DV Flagship, and well worth it.
Sony is top of the game when it comes to consumer camcorders, but how about pro-sumer? Well the DCR-VX2000 shows exactly what Sony's got. This is the best of the best of Sony's DCR series. The big question that comes up with the Sony VX2000 is "which to I buy the VX2000 or the Canon XL1". Well in... Read full review »
Sony DCR-VX2000 : The VX series continued....
Well, OK, Sony's newest and bestest "pro-sumer" Mini-DV camcorder is out, the VX-2000 (along with the similar PD150, which has a B&W finder instead of the color one on the VX-2000, XLR audio inputs instead of mini-jacks, an accessory mono shotgun mic instead of a built-in stereo mic, and a few more... Superb picture, cd quality sound
The Sony VX2000 is the older brother to the famous VX1000 a camera that has made its mark on the documentary and news gathering industry in a big way. That high mark has now been surpassed. I used the VX1000 to pick up some quick shots for our documentary that we shot last year, the lines of... Read full review »
This is the camera to buy!
Having used the VX1000 for the past three years, I have had a love/hate relationship with the camera. It has great image quality, but it is rather clunky to use, lacks a flip-out screen, and was not convenient for taking stills. So you can be sure that as soon as the VX2000 hit the market, I...

VX2000 audio fatally flawed
Don't buy a VX2000. The audio "hiss" problem makes the device useless. Pity, because in other respects the camera is very good.
Checkout http://www.sonytheft.com and do a web search for "VX2000 Hiss".
Sony have got some spin about the fault on their website but it's a complete...

Does it get better?
The Sony is fantastic. It is very expensive, but it's features are incredible. The most interesting feature is the 3CCD(one for each color-red,green,and blue). I am also very impressed with its playback because of its progressive scan feature.
This really is a great camera for the money...

Sony DCR-VX2000 Digital Camcorder - Does The Look Make It Justice?
The Sony DCR-VX2000 MiniDV digital camcorder looks cool. Fortunately, it has features that justify its professional looks.
The camcorder uses three HAD CCDs with more than a megapixel resolution (3 x 380,000) and an optical image stabilizer.
Picture Quality
The picture...

You will not put it down
The handheld camcorders are good for on the road shots, but the quality isn't there and once a dub is made, the quality decreases even more. So in order to have a quality production it was necessary to invest in a high end model recorder. The digital seemed the right answer. I particularly like the... Read full review »
