I would play this in the home, I would play this in a school. I would play this in a library, I would play this here or there, I would play this anywhere!
Most of us, and most of our children, have grown up on the creative genius of Dr. Seuss. The repetitive rhyming, fun characters and amazing mazes have mesmerized and enchanted generations. Now that we are in the PC generation, Dr. Seuss can reach them via technology. Say hello to the Learning Company's Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham Full Version for PC and Mac.
This is a very simple, follow-along, read-along interactive storybook. Green Eggs and Ham is one of the best selling children's books ever, and your kids will love the silly games and blunders they can get into while the never even know that they are learning! School's in session!
With each page of the storybook, there are twenty different hidden and educational tools in the form of things like chairs, wheels, and other picturesque itemsthat have names and functions. This is a great head start for pre-readers or those who are emerging. My youngest son had many benefits being on the autism spectrum from the visual guidance.
They click on the finding and surprise themselves as well as move ahead in the game, and/or turning the page. As they read aside SAM, they learn to recognize words and even a child who is toddler age can use this program! It helps if they have seen the cartoon or read the book first! But then again, this may urge them to pick up the book, the old fashioned way!
Some of the fun games that they play as they interact and get further into the program is Wacky Food Concentration which has a main focus of building memory skills, as well as observation, much like a domino game. The Silly Rhyming Sentence Machine is perfect for vocabulary in the first grade level, as well as early phonics, spelling and auditory listening skills and recognizing certain sounds.
The characters are friendly and give positive feedback even during wrong choices. You may find your child addicted to this story, with the rich colors and exciting, fast paced movement.
What you need to play this on your PC is: IBM or compatible 486SX or higher Windows 95/98/Me/Vista 8MB of RAM 2X CD-ROM drive SVGA (640x480, 256 colors) IBM compatible sound device or for MAC, a System 7.0 or higher, Power Macintosh IIci, LCIII, Performa 400, or higher 8MB RAM.
I operate my new computers on Windows XP, so I am not sure if this PC game is compatible with Win 2000 or higher, as I had this when my kids were younger, back in the late 90's. From what I understand, WIN 2000 and higher can operate older games, but you might want to find out before you purchase it!
