This whimsical clay mariachi figurine was handmade by artist Juan Jose Soteno in his home outside of Mexico City. It is a superb example of Mexican folk art. Juan Jose is the third generation of Sotenos to work with clay, a legacy which spans 60 years in the same modest home. Much of his artwork is inspired by Mexico's annual Day of the Dead celebrations, which take place from October 31 through November 2. They also make great Halloween decorations!
