The resulting plaques have raised borders ranging from 1/4" to 5/8 thick, with a body thickness between 1/8" and 3/16". This procedure not only helps prevent cracking or splitting, but adds to the longevity of the product. After casting, pieces are cleaned and prepped in the finishing department. Black backgrounds are a baked-on enamel finish and painted finishes consist of two coats of air dry laquer paint. Borders and lettering are hand applied.
