There are game cartridges plus adults can download new stuff online for the hand-held game. The only drawback is that games from other Leapsters are not compatible. Without it being backwards compatible, the Leapster Explorer is not the best choice for kids who already have a Leapster and parents who've invested $24 a pop for games.
