Sony DCR-TRV900 Camcorder -- Beginning to See the Light

byradioguy Mar 18, 2001
33 Helpfuls 34 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Three-chip, close to broadcast quality.
Cons No XLR mic inputs, key adustments via menus rather than physical dials, high price.
Recommended it? Yes

When Sony gets a product right, they're often content to sit back and leave it alone. Such was the case with their very-popular DCR-VX1000 three-chip MiniDV camcorder, released in 1995 but not updated until the 2000 release of the DCR-VX2000. Although it's not the very first MiniDV camcorder to hit... Read full review »

Afordable 3CCD, Great Quality, Solid price

byflindingo Aug 20, 2000
24 Helpfuls 25 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros 3CCD pickup, 2.5 LCD, good button locations, price
Cons lower-quality lens, mic pickup
Recommended it? Yes

The Sony TRV900 is the most affordable 3CCD DV camcorder in Sony's line. It does not have the supreme quality of it's older siblings such as the VX2000, however it is a solid 3CCD camcorder.

I'm currently shooting a feature length video for a Production company on the TRV900. I've worked... Read full review »

Pros Compact size, easy operation, versatile lighting options, superb picture/audio quality,...
Cons Must purchase other items to produce DVDs.
Recommended it? Yes

We purchased a TRV280 to record the antics of our new daughter. We looked at reviews, prices, and features of this camcorder to make our purchase. We decided on this model.

It is well laid out control-wise. You can go from standby to record in the press of one button. A slide-switch... Read full review »

Nice Digital 8 Camcorder

bybierhere Aug 28, 2005
13 Helpfuls 14 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros IEEE 1394/USB ports, Digital 8 compatible
Cons Larger than Mini-DV, still uses tapes.
Recommended it? Yes

First question, why buy a Digital 8 camcorder? You buy a Digital Camcorder because you have a previous 8mm, Hi-8 or Digital 8 camcorder, or because you want a Digital camcorder without the cost of Mini-DV or the newer DVD camcorders.

In my case, this is my second Digital 8 camcorder. I... Read full review »
