No, this isn't just NFL 2K for the Internet -- this is a whole new ballgame. NFL 2K1 is loaded with new features, and you can up the stakes by playing pros around the country online through your Dreamcast. The players are tougher, faster, and stronger, while improved AI makes for brutal defense. The running game is greatly enhanced so you can run the ball and cover more ground. With more animations, detailed players and stadiums, and more than 2,000 motion-captured moves, NFL 2K1 is an amazingly realistic experience. And the realism extends beyond gameplay and into the NFL's business side. Manage your favorite team in Franchise Mode with salary caps, retirements, draft picks, and rookie signings. Even more fun than the old Spider-Man platform games

byHawgWyld Jan 8, 2003
54 Helpfuls 55 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Visually and musically beautiful; Spider-Man's moves are created well; dandy action
Cons Too short; the final level is a needless chore; port of a PS1 game?
Recommended it? Yes

You know, that old theme from the Spider-Man cartoon always bothered me. You know the one. It's famous:

Spider-Man
Spider-Man
Does whatever a spider can

Actually, that little ditty is misleading as hell because Spider-Man can do much more than a common, household... Read full review »

Pros Great graphics and sound - Stan Lee himself narrates
Cons Controls can be awkward, Camera angles a little funky
Recommended it? Yes

Note: Just so that there is no confusion, this review is of the Spiderman game for PlayStation 1, and it came out over a year before the new Spider-Man movie was released. There is a new Spider-Man game for PlayStation 2, but this review is of an older one.

Spiderman for PlayStation is... Read full review »

NFL2K1 - Madden 2001 Who?

88 Helpfuls 89 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Great graphics, sound, improved running game, defense is better, franchise mode, online...
Cons Terrible menu and playbook screens, not a lot of plays, too easy on Rookie mode
Recommended it? Yes

You'd almost imagine Sega resting on its laurels after the unbelievable NFL2K, and slack off and produce a sequel to the game that is "more of the same." Alas, Sega Sports didn't do that, and instead tried to make NFL2K1 twice as good as its predecessor. While it's far from the perfect football... Read full review »

It's not perfect, but it's pretty darn good

byHawgWyld Mar 9, 2002
74 Helpfuls 75 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Solid game engine that's easy to learn and enjoy
Cons Bugs; limited play selection
Recommended it? Yes

The Dreamcast is certainly an odd little machine. I've owned one for a few months and have discovered that it's a darn fine console which has solid graphics, great sound and a lot of available titles that cost next to nothing. NFL 2K1 is one of those dirt cheap titles that's made even more... Read full review »
