Sony DCR-TRV900 Camcorder -- Beginning to See the Light

byradioguy Mar 18, 2001

Pros Three-chip, close to broadcast quality.
Cons No XLR mic inputs, key adustments via menus rather than physical dials, high price.
Recommended it? Yes

When Sony gets a product right, they're often content to sit back and leave it alone. Such was the case with their very-popular DCR-VX1000 three-chip MiniDV camcorder, released in 1995 but not updated until the 2000 release of the DCR-VX2000. Although it's not the very first MiniDV camcorder to hit... Read full review »

Afordable 3CCD, Great Quality, Solid price

byflindingo Aug 20, 2000

Pros 3CCD pickup, 2.5 LCD, good button locations, price
Cons lower-quality lens, mic pickup
Recommended it? Yes

The Sony TRV900 is the most affordable 3CCD DV camcorder in Sony's line. It does not have the supreme quality of it's older siblings such as the VX2000, however it is a solid 3CCD camcorder.

I'm currently shooting a feature length video for a Production company on the TRV900. I've worked... Read full review »

Sonys best DCRSR Handycam

18 Helpfuls 19 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros The luxury of quality, features and convenience with Sonys name behind it.
Cons Luxury usually comes at a luxury price.
Recommended it? Yes

The Sony DCRSR100 is the best of Sony's family of non-high def HDD (hard disk digital) Handycam Camcorders. Tremendously easy to use, with a level of quality and feature set which reaches into the midrange for camcorders available for the home market today. This is reflected in the price as well... To buy or not to buy.

Pros Universal Mpeg2 format. Good video quality. Native 16:9 widescreen format.
Cons Included battery yields only 40-minutes of continuous recording. Not a small as mini-DV...
Recommended it? Yes

I waited almost five years before upgrading my first generation Sony digital 8-mm camcorder to a Sony hard drive camcorder. I looked really hard at the JVC Everio hard drive video cameras, but the reviews I read were less than spectacular.

The Sony DCR SR-100 appeared to be very solid... Read full review »
