It's an all-out war of the toys, and no room is safe in Toy Commander on Dreamcast. Childhood toys come to life and fight for supremacy on the action-packed battlefield of a young boy's home. Andy's old-fashioned, toddler toys are fighting mad and not gonna stand for any more neglect. So they rise up and rebel against the shiny new generation of action toys, which you command to defend the playroom turf. But look out -- your enemy may seem cute and cuddly, but they're heavily armed and stone-cold deadly. With more than 50 hours of mission-oriented gameplay, you'll control a battalion of air and land assault toys as you clash on the kitchen table, under the bed, or in other rebel-held territories throughout the house. This is not your average fun and games. Less

Even more fun than the old Spider-Man platform games

byHawgWyld Jan 8, 2003

Pros Visually and musically beautiful; Spider-Man's moves are created well; dandy action
Cons Too short; the final level is a needless chore; port of a PS1 game?
Recommended it? Yes

You know, that old theme from the Spider-Man cartoon always bothered me. You know the one. It's famous:

Spider-Man
Spider-Man
Does whatever a spider can

Actually, that little ditty is misleading as hell because Spider-Man can do much more than a common, household... Read full review »

Pros Great graphics and sound - Stan Lee himself narrates
Cons Controls can be awkward, Camera angles a little funky
Recommended it? Yes

Note: Just so that there is no confusion, this review is of the Spiderman game for PlayStation 1, and it came out over a year before the new Spider-Man movie was released. There is a new Spider-Man game for PlayStation 2, but this review is of an older one.

Spiderman for PlayStation is... Read full review »

How to take a great idea and ruin it

byHawgWyld Feb 25, 2002
62 Helpfuls 63 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Controlling toys in battles around a house is a fantastic concept; nice graphics
Cons Too repititive and tedious; high frustration level
Recommended it? No

I must be out of step with folks in the gaming world. A lot of people love this game and absolutely rave about it. I bought it, took it home and couldn't force myself to like it. Sadly, this is one of those games I really wanted to like because it looks so intriguing -- pretty graphics, nifty... Read full review »

Even Toys Can't Get Along

byHorhay Oct 8, 2000
13 Helpfuls 14 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Cool concept, lots of level, vehicles a plenty, great multiplayer action, funky music,...
Cons Some levels are very hard, Huggy Bear is one tough mother
Recommended it? Yes

Intro:

I wasn't expecting too much from Toy Commander. Just the idea of having battles with toys sounds great, but games with this theme so far have failed at providing a satisfying experience (i.e. Army Men). Toy Commander however focuses on variety and innovation, and with that we have... Read full review »
